Diggs Drops A Pair Of PA#2s At Ship

After a great freshman season, Talitha Diggs is proving she is even better this season.

The Saucon Valley sophomore rolled to a pair of victories at Saturday's Shippensburg Jack Roddick Invitational. First, she turned on the jets to win the 400 meters in 56.45. Then she returned later in the afternoon to win the 200 meters in 24.87. Both times are PA#2 efforts and a sign that Diggs is well ahead of schedule compared to last season.

Last year, Diggs went 58.02 at the Ship Invite. She ended up running 56.30 at states where she ended up placing sixth in the finals. Despite the poor weather that has put a damper on training for most of the spring, Diggs is already close to that PR.

The same can be said about the 200. Diggs ran 24.77 at the District 11 Championships last spring for the win. She was just a tenth off that on Saturday.

During the indoor season, she placed second in the 200 meters (24.23) and fourth in the 400 meters (56.41) at the state meet. She said she's unsure where exactly her focus will be the rest of the spring (possibly 300-meter hurdles!). But she's showing the state one thing is for sure: whatever it is will be fast.
