Isabella Coscetti Sets Freshman Class Pole Vault NR

Isabella Coscetti vaults 12-10 to set the new Freshman Pole Vault National Record

It kind of just happend. It happened and nobody really knew, not even her.

Traveling on her way home, she knew she had a big performance and she knew she had a big time win. She continued to train as well as compete. All the while, she didn't even know or grasp to what extent she really did that day on January 12, 2019.

It's been nearly three weeks and Isabella Coscetti didn't even know until today that she owns a National Record in the pole vault. I mean, she is just a freshman and what fresh eyed and bushy tailed freshman comes in wanting to set a national record?

Well, she did just that. At the Arkansas High School Invitational Coscetti earned a couple of firsts. It was her first win as a high schooler, her first time jumping over 12-4 in a meet, and as a freshman, at 12-10, it was of course her first National Record.

She topped the former record of 12-9 that was shared by Makayla Linebarger of Reed High School in Sparks, Nevada from 2014 and the 2016 jump by fellow Texan and the 2018 UIL 6A state champion Mackenzie Hayward from Marcus.

The Woodsboro freshman hasn't even put on a Woodsboro uniform yet and she is already rocking out! Throughout the indoor season, she has been vaulting for her club, The Vault Barn Pole Vault Club, where she has been working out in an elite performance environment.

She works out with her club coach and school coach Kevin Hall who facilitates an elite athletic performance and coaching atmosphere in Woodsboro, TX. Included in the training group is UIL 2A 2018 state pole vault champion and Woodsboro senior Skylar Hall as well as the top boys freshman pole vaulter in Texas, Anthony Meacham.

Amongst that intimidating group of high caliber athletes, Coscetti has been able to flourish and make a path herself. Vaulting for only a little over two years, she possess power and exhibits the technique of an experienced and upper class vaulter. Coach Hill says, "Horse power on the runway, a huge swing, and totally inverting thru the top of pole," are what makes her such a good vaulter, so early.

With a lot of time and vaulting remaining for Coscetti, these things are certain - she already has a Freshman Class National Record in her back pocket and according to coach Hall....she's "Very powerful," so there will be plenty more to come in Coscetti's future.
