Texas Track Stars Sweeps Adidas Boost Boston Games HS Events


This was a busy weekend of high school national championship events. There was the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle, Washington, New Balance Nationals Outdoors in Greensboro, North Carolina, and there was also the Adidas Boost Boston Games in Boston, Massachusetts all happening this weekend across the country.

The Boost Games has both high school and professional runners competitions where they invite the top national sprinters and distance runners from the high school season to compete.

This year, Texas athletes were entered in each of the four high school events and each event was won by Texan athletes.

Girls Event Winners

In the sprints, UIL 6A Girls 100m champion Tianna Randle, entered into the girls 100m. The Humble Summer Creek graduate and University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) signee won it in 11.72

In the girls 1 mile, Katy Cinco Ranch sophomore Heidi Nielson won the event in a 4:46.31 PR. Nielson, was second in the UIL 6A 1600m with her 4:48.71 PR for the shorter distance and was fourth in the 3200m at the state meet.

Boys Event Winners

Stafford graduate and UIL 4A 100m state champion Ryan Martin (10.34) won the 100m at Boost Boston games. Martin won by going 10.58 for the .03 margin of victory. Martin just finished third overall at the Great Southwest Classic the previous weekend.

Finishing second overall was Alvin Shadow Creek graduate and UIL 5A 100m state champion Ashton O'Conner (10.48).  O'Conner's 10.61 was right behind the winning Martin as the two distanced themselves from the rest of the field as third place was back by over on hundredth of a second at 10.79.

Just like in the girls events, the boys event winners encompassed both the sprint and the distance events. La Porte junior Ryan Schoppe won the boys 1 mile. The UIL 6A 3200m state champion (8:52.73) and 1600m runner up (4:07.47) won the Boost 1 mile in 4:09.15 by over three seconds.

Katy Tompkins junior and UIL 6A 1600m champion, Cole Lindhorst (4:07.41) placed sixth overall in the 1 mile with a 4:14.61 and Kingwood graduate and UIL 6A fourth place state meet finisher, Carter Storm (4:09.93) was eighth in the Boost 1 mile with a 4:17.69.
