Nevada Future Stars Mid-March Recap

Nevada's high school track and field scene is off to an exciting start in 2026, with top athletes making waves across sprints, hurdles, distance, and throws. This year's performances not only highlight standout talents dominating their disciplines but also showcase significant improvements from last season, as rising stars and returning competitors push their limits. We take a look at the freshmen and sophomore classes as of Mid-March.

Sprints Overview

Top performances in the 100m this year show Evan Garcia-Jurado from Churchill County High School running 12.55, building on a strong 2025 cohort performance from sprinters like Landon Perkins (Liberty High School) who ran 10.74. Athletes like Jayden Patton (Mojave High School) continue to perform in the low 11s, maintaining consistency from last year.

Bre'lyn Johnson (Bishop Gorman High School) posts the only underclassmen 100m under 12-seconds from the Dave Butler Memorial Las Vegas Open, ranking top 5 in the state regardless of class.

2026 performances highlight younger athletes such as Terrance Holmes (The Meadows) and Kai Neal (Cheyenne High School) stepping up with times in the 23-second range.

In 2025, the fastest Class of 2028 time listed was 25.90 by Brooklynn Fulton (Legacy High School), with several others in the mid‑26s. This year, Nevada has already had multiple underclassmen athletes under that mark, including Bre'lyn Johnson (Bishop Gorman High School) (24.83), Mariah Watson (Liberty High School) (25.15), and Gianna Schumann (Centennial High) (25.75).

Hurdles Overview

Darius Chapman (Spanish Springs) continues to lead the 110m hurdles with a 15.09, building on his 2025 regional dominance. Jayden Patton (Mojave High School) improved in the 300m hurdles from 43.71 to breaking 40-second territory in 2026, setting him up for even more strong performances this year.

Fallon Swart (Faith Lutheran High School) leads the girls underclasses with a 47.12 300m hurdles, with freshman Ninna Rasmussen (Galena High School) following closely behind.

Middle & Long Distance

Several underclassmen athletes have already broken the 2-minute barrier this season in the 800m. Shane Ramirez (Somerset Academy Sky Pointe) leads the way with a 1:57.65 t the Redondo Nike Invitational, placing 10th overall. 

Sawyer Hutton (Nevada Track Club) continues as a top distance performer, improving from a 4:20 1600 in 2025 to a 3200 time under 9:05, showing significant year-to-year progression. Andrew Duncan (Clark High School) and Ollie Reid (Desert Oasis High School) also made noticeable jumps from 2025 to 2026, reflecting strong off-season development.

Belle Parrel (Centennial High) and Shelby Erikson (Incline High School) both sit in the top three ranked 800m performers in the state, regardless of their underclassmen status. 

Meanwhile, Gioia Coudriet (Galena High School) also leads the state as an underclassman, posting a 4:55 1600m and 10:33.73 3200m at the Dublin Distance Fiesta this past weekend.

Throws Overview

Jordyn Montgomery (Damonte Ranch High School) led 2025 with 47-10, followed by Brodyn Brown (Centennial High) (45-4.25). Early 2026 results suggest these athletes continue to dominate, while younger throwers are making notable jumps in distance.

2026 girls' shot put and discus results show top performers surpassing previous class averages, indicating strong upcoming talent in Nevada's throws program. Nneka Ebonka (Arbor View High Schoolleads the way with a 37-8 in the shot put as a sophomore.
