Nevada's future looks exceptionally bright following a 2026 outdoor season that saw freshmen and sophomores deliver standout performances across every event group!
Sprints
Jayden Patton (Mojave) emerged as one of the state's most versatile athletes, leading the rankings in both the 100m (10.53) and 200m (21.10). The sophomore captured the NIAA 4A State Championship title in the 200m while also winning regional titles in both hurdle events. Jermari Arnold (Liberty) established himself as one of Nevada's premier young sprinters after running 10.63 for runner-up honors at the NIAA 5A Southern Region Championships before doubling back to run 48.54 in the 400m.
Freshman Brayley Manning (Bishop Gorman) impressed with marks of 10.65 and 21.77, while Nehemiah Dunlap-Myvett (Centennial) added a strong 21.35 regional runner-up performance in the 200m. Dilyn King (Basic) led the underclass 400m rankings with a 48.44 victory at the NIAA 4A State Championships, while freshman Sherrod Leslie (Canyon Springs) emerged with strong marks in both the 200m and 400m.
The girls sprint events were highlighted by Bre'lynn Johnson (Bishop Gorman), who led all underclass athletes in both the 100m and 200m with times of 11.81 and 24.10. Johnson captured the NIAA 5A Southern Region title in the 200m while finishing runner-up in the 100m. Mariah Watson (Liberty) showcased impressive range across the sprint events, ranking among the state's best in the 100m, 200m, and 400m, while freshman Gianna Schumann (Centennial) emerged as one of Nevada's top young quarter-milers after running 57.11 for runner-up honors at the NIAA 5A Southern Region Championships. Shelby Erikson (Incline) added standout marks of 25.69 and 56.73 while winning the NIAA 2A State Championship in the 200m.
Distance Events
Shane Ramirez (Somerset Academy Sky Pointe) led the underclass 800m rankings with a 1:52.67 performance that earned third place at the NIAA 5A Southern Region Championships. Teammate Sawyer Hutton (Somerset Academy Sky Pointe) emerged as one of Nevada's premier young distance runners, ranking among the leaders in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m. Hutton produced a breakthrough 4:13.44 at the Mt. SAC Relays before later running 9:05.88 at the Hi-Racer Meet of Champions.
Maseco Colombant (Reno) also showcased a remarkable sophomore campaign, running 4:19.58 in the 1600m and an underclass-leading 9:05.44 in the 3200m at Arcadia. Freshman Manuel Carranza (Palo Verde) impressed in both distance events, while Andrew Duncan (Clark) added strong performances in the 1600m and 3200m throughout the spring.
On the girls side, Gioia Coudriet (Galena) produced one of the strongest all-around seasons by any underclass athlete in Nevada. The sophomore captured the NIAA 5A State Championship title in the 800m, won the Sacramento Meet of Champions 1600m in 4:54.48, and finished second at Arcadia in the 3200m with a stellar 10:27.28.
Freshman Belle Parrel (Centennial) delivered one of the state's most impressive performances of the season when she won the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays 800m title in 2:13.65. Stella Lin (Coronado) captured the NIAA 5A Southern Region title in the 800m, while freshman Lucia Avril (North Tahoe) claimed the NIAA 2A State Championship in the 1600m before later winning the Sacramento Meet of Champions 3200m. Emme Ream (Galena) also emerged as one of Nevada's top young distance runners after ranking among the leaders in both distance events.
Hurdles
Nevada's underclass hurdlers delivered several breakthrough performances throughout championship season. Jayden Patton (Mojave) continued his outstanding campaign by leading the underclassmen boys 110m hurdles with a 14.82 regional championship performance before adding a 39.40 victory in the 300m hurdles at the same meet. Darius Chapman (Spanish Springs) emerged as another top sophomore hurdle prospect after running 14.90 and 39.58, while Ashton Hickman (Moapa Valley) led the 300m hurdle rankings with a 38.93 regional title-winning performance.
Freshman Justin Robinson (Canyon Springs) showcased remarkable versatility by ranking among the state's best in both hurdle events while earning runner-up honors in the 110m hurdles at the NIAA 4A State Championships. Robinson added a 40.57 performance in the 300m hurdles to establish himself as one of Nevada's top all-around freshmen.
The girls hurdles featured outstanding depth as Fallon Swart (Faith Lutheran) led the future stars rankings in both hurdle disciplines with marks of 15.03 and 46.38. Audrey Luth (Shadow Ridge) ranked among the state's best in both events, while freshman Ninna Rasmussen (Galena) enjoyed a breakout season in the hurdles. Anna Winward (Moapa Valley) also excelled in both races, capturing a regional title in the 100m hurdles and later placing fourth at the NIAA 3A State Championships in the 300m hurdles.
Throws
The throws produced some of Nevada's most accomplished young field event athletes. David Ross (Shadow Ridge) led the boys shot put rankings after throwing 54-1.5 to finish runner-up at the NIAA 5A State Championships, while Jordyn Montgomery (Damonte Ranch) ranked among the state's best in both throwing events and earned runner-up honors in the discus at the NIAA 5A State Championships with a throw of 163-4. Brodyn Brown (Bishop Gorman) also emerged as a force in both events, highlighted by a 52-5 shot put mark during regional competition.
On the girls side, Nneka Ebonka (Arbor View) established herself as Nevada's premier underclass thrower. The sophomore won the NIAA 5A State Championship shot put title with a throw of 40-3 while also leading the discus rankings at 136-1. Freshman Maliah Tanuvasa (Liberty) emerged as one of the state's top young throwers after ranking third in both the shot put and discus, while Sloan Caffey (Coronado) and Success Osawe (Damonte Ranch) added strong seasons of their own.
Jumps
Nevada's jumping events showcased several of the state's most versatile underclass athletes. Thomas Durr (Legacy) led the long jump rankings after soaring 23-5 and also ranked among Nevada's top underclassmen triple jumpers. Rowlandis Eutsy (Desert Oasis) displayed similar versatility by ranking near the top of both the long jump and high jump standings.
Freshman Justin Robinson (Canyon Springs) continued adding to his impressive resume by ranking among the state's best in both the long jump and triple jump while earning runner-up honors in the triple jump at the NIAA 4A State Championships. Jacari Baldon (Centennial) led the triple jump rankings at 44-8.5, while Jackson Santoro (Palo Verde), Thomas Juden (Shadow Ridge), and Andrew Stewart (Centennial) shared the top underclass pole vault clearance at 14-0.
The girls jumps featured another standout multi-event athlete in Emoni Young (Shadow Ridge), who ranked among Nevada's best sprinters while also leading the underclass rankings in both the long jump and high jump. Freshman Ellianna Costilla (Spanish Springs) ranked among the leaders in both horizontal jumps, while Kaleez Kennard (Eldorado) paired a state runner-up finish in the 100m hurdles with a top-five underclassmen long jump mark. The pole vault featured exceptional young talent, led by Ava Thomson (Faith Lutheran) and freshman Avery Callahan (Bishop Manogue), who both cleared 12-0 during championship season.
