Andrew Mah and Heidi Nielson Win 5K National Titles
Andrew Mah of Newton North High School in Massachusetts and Heidi Nielson of Cinco Ranch High Scool in Texas both won national titles in the 5K on Friday night in Greensboro, North Carolina, at New Balance Nationals Outdoor.
Mah, a senior who will be running at MIT in the fall, completed the race running a new US No. 1 time of 14:32.96. Nielson, who is only a freshman, won the girls 5K title running 16:55.76. Her time ranks US No. 4.
Rounding out the top three in the boys race was Arlington High School's (MA) Ryan Oosting, who ran 14:37.74 for the new US No. 3 time, and Devin Hart of Point Pleasant Boro High School in New Jersey. Hart ran 14:44.06 for a new US No. 10 time.
