Gatorade has named their Track and Field Athlete of the Year for the state of Nevada. State Champions Iyonna Codd ( Centennial High ) and Derek Meadows (Bishop Gorman) are this years winners.
Iyonna Codd was Triple State Champion (100m, 200m, 400m) for 5A in 2023. Codd also set the State Meet records in the 100m at 11.64 and the 200m at 23.62. Codd is also ranking inside the top 50 in the Nation in all three disciplines.
Derek Meadows was Class 5A 300m Hurdles Champion in a photo finish at 36.73. This ranked him top 10 in the nation this year and is number 2 all-time in the state of Nevada. Meadows was also Runner-Up in the 110m Hurdles.
