Class 1's Asher Buggs-Tipton gets 2 MRs w US#17 13.95 110H & MO#1 38.61

Asher Buggs-Tipton, who is eight for eight in state titles, got an invite to the meet from Rathke. It was a good trip for Buggs-Tipton from North Central Missouri's Green City High School , a Class 1 school. The hurdle and jumps star kicked off the meet with an eye-popping performance. He joined a list of just 19 Missouri preps to break the 14-second barrier in the 110-meter hurdles on the MileSplit event database.

Buggs-Tipton was initially shocked at seeing the performance on the results board, but not too surprised as his coaches thought he was ready for a big breakthrough. Buggs-Tipton had struggled with some injuries over the winter, but his performance showed him that "hard work and trusting the process pays off".

Raytown South sophomore James Watkins  finished 2nd in 14:61 with Staley's Jeremiah Kelley 3rd in 14.79. Buggs-Tipton returned for the track hours later for the 300-meter hurdles. He ran to victory in a MO#1 and meet record time of 38.61. Staley's Kelley, just a sophomore, ran to a MO#2 and runner-up finish in 39.05. Junior Colin Madison showed he is moving toward being one of the state's best for Liberty North just like brother Andrew was, finishing 3rd in 39.81.

Rock Bridge's Casey Hood sweeps 100/200 w MO#1 21.40 200 MR

Six guys go under 11 seconds

Rock Bridge senior state runner-up Casey Hood blasted out of the blocks to victories in the 100 and 200-meters. Hood ran to a 10.74 clocking in the 100 with a big pack bunched together behind him in the final two heats of the event.

Liberty's Dominic Revels was 2nd in 10.89 while Rock Bridge sophomore Drevyn Seamon was 3rd in 10.90. Daeton Hayslett of host William Chrisman was 4th out of the second to last section in 10.92, just 0.004 seconds ahead of Grandview's Griouard Weddington (10.92). Staley's Robert Collins Jr was the sixth finisher to go below the 11-second barrier with a 10.97.

In the 200, Hood got around the curve quickly and won by more than a half-second in 21.40 to get a MO#1 and meet record. Nick Bell of Bentonville West was 2nd in 21.91 while Revels was 3rd in 22.05 after his runner-up 100 finish. Liberty North's Xavier Horn and Neosho's Tyrese Hilwere 4th and 5th in 22.13 and 22.18.

In the 4x200, the Rock Bridge boys, just like their ladies, crossed the finish line first but were disqualified for a baton pass out of the exchange zone. Raytown won the crown comfortably in 1:29.69 with Liberty North and Rockhurst following in 2nd and 3rd in 1:30.38 and 1:30.49.

In the 4x100, Rock Bridge and Blue Springs South were DNS' (Did Not Start) as Rockhurst edged Bentonville West of Arkansas for the title, 42.77 to 42.78, while Liberty North was 3rd in 42.85.

Park Hill senior August Jones claimed the 400 in 50.11 just ahead of Rockhurst's Brendan Kerr and Raytown's Jordyn Robinson Ugwuh, who were 2nd and 3rd both in rounded-up 50.21.

Liberty breezed to victory in the 4x400 to close out the meet. The Blue Jays finished in one of the fastest times in the state on the season in 3:28.11. Grain Valley and Liberty North also got under the 3:30 barrier for 2nd and 3rd in 3:29 and some change.
