Sprints & Hurdles
One of Nevada's top overall performances of the week came from Tyler Russell (Reed High School), who ran 10.58 in the 100 meters at the Sacramento Meet of Champions. The junior placed third in a loaded 30-athlete field while continuing to hold the top class ranking in Nevada in both the 100 and 200 meters. He also added a 22.55 performance in the 200 meters against elite competition.
On the girls side, Samiyah Washington (Legacy High School) controlled both sprint races at the Legacy Weekday, winning the 100 meters in 11.91 and the 200 meters in 24.57. Her victories came against competitive fields, reinforcing her position among Nevada's top sprinters this spring.
Jiselle Dudley (Coronado High School) delivered an impressive double at the Coronado Weekday, too, winning the 300-meter hurdles in 44.20 while also taking the 100 meters in 12.37 against a massive 96-athlete field.
Another standout result came from Jordan Johnson (Durango High School), who won the 200 meters in 21.78 at the Cimarron Weekday to move to #2 among Nevada sophomores in the event. Johnson also finished second in the 100 meters in 10.99 and added a long jump victory later in the week.
Several athletes also delivered major breakthrough performances in the sprint events. Anthony Cherry (Cimarron-Memorial) dropped over a full second in the boys 200 meters, improving from 23.09 to 22.08 at the Cimarron Weekday to place second in a 44-athlete field. On the girls side, Londyn Haynes (Foothill High School) improved from 13.60 to 13.15 in the 100 meters at the Foothill Weekday, continuing a strong sophomore campaign.
In the hurdles, Octaviann Cordova (Elko High School) delivered one of the strongest performances of the week by winning the 300-meter hurdles at the Sacramento Meet of Champions in 38.28 against a 30-athlete field. He also ran 49.12 in the 400 meters and 23.03 in the 200 meters, showing impressive range across multiple sprint disciplines.
Distance
Nevada distance athletes also managed to shine at the Sacramento Meet of Champions, led by Gioia Coudriet (Galena High School). The sophomore won the girls 1600 meters in 4:54.48 against a deep field and later placed sixth in the 800 meters in 2:15.83. Coudriet remains the top-ranked Nevada sophomore in both events.
On the boys side, David Coisson (Galena High School) delivered one of top distance doubles of the week, running 1:53.72 for third place in the 800 meters before adding a 9:13.90 runner-up finish in the 3200 meters. The junior now ranks among the top Nevada athletes in both events.
A major breakthrough came from Lucia Avril (North Tahoe High), who dropped nearly 40 seconds in the girls 3200 meters with a 10:55.68 performance at the Sacramento Meet of Champions. The freshman's mark ranks #4 in Nevada and #1 among freshmen statewide while also setting a school record for North Tahoe.
Another strong improvement came from Noah Thompson (Fernley High School), who lowered his 800-meter personal best from 2:17.60 to 2:09.69 at the Carson Varsity Invite. The freshman finished third in the race and now ranks among Nevada's top freshman middle-distance runners.
Jumps
The jumps were highlighted by a strong all-around performance from Harper Westfall (Bishop Manogue High School) at the Sacramento Meet of Champions. Westfall cleared 12-3 in the pole vault for second place while also running 15.93 in the 100-meter hurdles. The junior ranks third among Nevada juniors in both events.
A nice breakthrough in the vault came from Elizabeth Ramirez (Damonte Ranch High School), who cleared 11-3 at the Sacramento Meet of Champions to improve on her previous best of 11-0. The freshman now ranks #2 among Nevada freshmen and set a new school record.
Jordan Johnson (Durango High School) also added a field event victory to his sprint success, winning the long jump at the Green Valley FAST Classic Championship with a leap of 20-6.5.
Throws
Isaiah Blinkinsop (Spanish Springs) threw 55-4.5 in the shot put at the 3rd Annual Throws @ The Ranch Invitational, placing second in a massive 86-athlete field while producing one of Nevada's top throws of the week.
Another strong performance came from Felix Ramirez (Moapa Valley High School), who improved his shot put personal best from 43-6 to 45-3.75 at the Moapa Valley Weekday. Ramirez won the competition against a 24-athlete field and moved further up the Nevada rankings.
