First Look: Nevada High School Outdoor Season Opening Week

The Nevada outdoor track and field season got underway last week with several strong early performances across the state. Sprinters set fast marks right away, distance runners established early benchmarks, and multiple field athletes produced state-leading efforts in the opening meets.

Here's a look at some of the top performances from the first week of competition.

Sprint Events Produce Early Fast Times

Jayden Patton (Mojave) led the boys sprint performances, clocking the fastest time in the state in the 100m (10.53) and also winning the 200m in 21.34 at the Dave Butler Memorial Las Vegas Open. Patton added another top performance in the hurdles with a 39.85 victory in the 300m hurdles, highlighting a strong all-around start to the season.
