Here's a look at some of the top performances from the first week of competition.
Sprint Events Produce Early Fast Times
Jayden Patton (Mojave) led the boys sprint performances, clocking the fastest time in the state in the 100m (10.53) and also winning the 200m in 21.34 at the Dave Butler Memorial Las Vegas Open. Patton added another top performance in the hurdles with a 39.85 victory in the 300m hurdles, highlighting a strong all-around start to the season.
Behind him in the 100m, Anthony Gamboa (Spring Valley) ran 10.64, while freshman Brayley Manning (Bishop Gorman) posted an impressive 10.79.
On the girls side, Teanna Codd (Centennial) leads the state in the 100m after running 11.79, followed closely by Jessica Davis (Canyon Springs) in 11.83 and Bre'lynn Johnson (Bishop Gorman) in 11.90.
Alyssa Dixon (Galena) also had one of the biggest meets of the week, running 11.95 in the 100m and 24.50 in the 200m, the fastest time in Nevada in the event so far this season.
Another notable breakthrough came from Antwan Osborne (Spring Valley), who ran 22.34 to win the 200m and 11.24 in the 100m, improving significantly on his previous personal best.
400 Meter and Middle Distance Athletes Open Strong
In the boys 400m, Hunter Steele (Galena) opened his season with a 50.09 victory, improving on his previous best of 50.10 from last spring.
The girls 400m was led by Jessica Davis (Canyon Springs), who ran 59.27, while freshman Gianna Schumann (Centennial) followed closely with a 59.56.
The 800m races also featured several strong performances. Dannon Martin (Liberty) posted the fastest boys time of the week at 1:57.27, with teammate Jaiden Martinez running 1:59.84 for second.
On the girls side, freshman Belle Parrel (Centennial) ran 2:17.50 to lead the state early in the season.
Distance Runners Set Early Benchmarks
Several distance athletes opened the season with strong marks in the 1600m and 3200m.
Carson Boyer (Wooster) led the boys 1600m with a 4:30.33, followed closely by Ayden Mosby (Galena) at 4:30.82 and Randin Patty (Centennial) in 4:32.69.
In the 3200m, Calvin Rivera (Centennial) delivered one of the top performances of the week with a 9:19.86 victory at the Dave Butler Memorial Las Vegas Open.
For the girls, Brooke-Lynne Miller (Coronado) swept the distance races at the same meet, running 4:58.88 in the 1600m and 10:55.40 in the 3200m to establish early state-leading marks.
Hurdles and Relays Show Depth
The hurdle events also featured strong early marks.
Christian Kai (Arbor View) leads the boys 110m hurdles after running 14.69.
On the girls side, Genesis Roussel (Centennial) leads the 100m hurdles with a 14.99, while Ahtziri Gadzuric (Coronado) ran 45.44 to top the 300m hurdles rankings.
Several relay teams also posted strong early-season times. Canyon Springs leads the boys 4x100m after running 42.24, while Centennial posted the fastest girls time with 48.50.
In the longer relays, Legacy ran 3:27.58 to lead the boys 4x400m, while Coronado posted the fastest girls mark at 4:00.90.
Field Event Standouts
The field events produced multiple state-leading marks during the opening week.
Maxwell Miles (Centennial) delivered one of the top jumps of the week with a 23-3.25 long jump, a personal best that ranks No. 2 in Nevada this season and leads all juniors in the state.
Noah Steenkamp (Coronado) also had a strong meet, winning the triple jump with a personal-best 45-4.75 and adding a 21-9 long jump.
In the throws, Kayden Hulet (Debbie Smith) recorded the top shot put mark of the week with a 54-5.25 throw, while Mykal Arnold (Desert Oasis) leads the discus with a 165-6.
On the girls side, Alyssa Dixon added a state-leading 18-1 long jump to her sprint victories.
Ashley Galvis (Amplus Academy) leads the triple jump after posting a 38-11 mark, while also recording a 17-2.5 long jump and a 12.66 personal best in the 100m.
Aniyah Burress (Legacy) also stood out with a strong all-around performance, jumping 17-11 in the long jump - the No. 2 mark in Nevada - while also winning the 100m (12.49) and 200m (26.36).
In the vault, Mackenzie Sellers (Reno) cleared 12-7 at the Douglas League Meet to set the top pole vault mark in Nevada this season.
