Nevada Future Stars: April 6-12 Top Performers and Breakthroughs
Nevada's April 6-12 slate brought a clear midseason shift, with deeper sprint fields, stronger consistency across field events, and noticeable drops in distance times.These trends were evident across major meets like the Arcadia Invitational and CSN Distance Carnival.
This week's future stars from the classes of 2028 and 2029 followed that same pattern, combining high-level marks with some of the most impactful personal breakthroughs of the season so far.
Sprints
Jayden Patton (Mojave High School) led the way with a 10.73 and 21.84 double at Arcadia, reinforcing his standing among the state's top young sprinters. He was joined by a tight group that included Jermari Arnold (Liberty High School) and Jordan Johnson (Durango High School), both of whom showed strong consistency across the short sprints.
One of the biggest developments came from freshman Braylon Rayford (Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon), who dropped nearly a full second in the 200m to 22.44 for a school record, while also improving in the 100m. Kaimana Tenorio (Centennial High) added another key breakthrough, winning the Palo Verde Weekday in 11.16 after lowering his previous best.
On the girls side, Bre'lynn Johnson (Bishop Gorman High School) broke 12 seconds at Arcadia (11.96), while freshman Azariah Marshall (Canyon Springs) continued to show her emerging strength with a 12.41.
Several athletes made notable jumps, led by RileyJo Glascock (Wells), who improved significantly in both the 100m (13.04) and 200m. Shya Ward-Banks (Mojave High School) posted improvements in both the 100m and 200m, establishing herself as the third-ranked sophomore in the 100. Unique Harris (Sierra Vista) also posted multi-event personal bests, highlighting growing versatility among Nevada's younger sprinters.
In the 400m, Kemya Lay (Canyon Springs) stood out with a 57.69 performance after winning the 200m, showing strong range across sprint distances.
Distance
At the front of the field, Maseco Colombant (Reno High School) delivered one of the top marks of the week with a 9:05.44 at Arcadia, while Sawyer Hutton (Somerset Academy Sky Pointe) followed closely.
In the 800m and 1600m, Shane Ramirez (Somerset Academy Sky Pointe) led a deep group of underclassmen with a 1:56.84 and 4:22.13 double. Behind him, freshman Elias Mitchell (Somerset Academy Sky Pointe) and Parker Guisti (Wooster) added strong performances across both events.
Breakthroughs really popped in the middle distances with Steven DeGon (Bonanza) dropping five seconds in the 800m, while Deshawn Welch (Shadow Ridge High School) improved in both the 800m and 1600m.
On the girls side, Gioia Coudriet (Galena High School) led the 3200m with a 10:27.28 at Arcadia, while Savannah Abney (Shadow Ridge High School) ran 2:20.87 in the 800m.
Additional improvements came from Laurel Highlen-Greer (Pinecrest Academy Cadence), who set a school record of 5:33.56 in the 1600m, and Mayci Barney (Shadow Ridge High School) who dropped time in both the 800m and 1600m. Freshman Camden Marchini (Clark High School) also made a huge move in the 3200m, improving from 11:05.13 to 10:38.55.
Hurdles
Darius Chapman (Spanish Springs) led the boys underclassmen with a 14.90 in the 110m hurdles, while freshman Justin Robinson (Canyon Springs) stood out for his versatility-posting strong marks in both hurdle events and the horizontal jumps.
On the girls side, Fallon Swart (Faith Lutheran High School) delivered one of the most impactful performances of the week, running 15.33 in the 100m hurdles to rank among the top athletes in the state while leading all sophomores. She also added strong marks in the 300m hurdles and high jump.
Field
In the throws, David Ross (Shadow Ridge High School) produced one of the top performances of the week with a 52-9.5 shot put, ranking near the top statewide and leading all sophomores. Jordyn Montgomery (Damonte Ranch High School) added a strong showing in the discus.
On the girls side, Nneka Ebonka (Arbor View) led both the shot put and discus, continuing to establish herself as one of the top young throwers in Nevada.
In the jumps, Thomas Durr (Legacy High School) led the long jump, while Jacari Baldon (Centennial High) topped the triple jump. Robinson's multi-event impact continued here as well with a top long jump mark.
For the girls, freshman Kaleez Kennard (Eldorado High School) led the underclassmen in the long jump, while Jaquelin Salgado (Tonopah High School) captured the triple jump lead.
In the vertical events, sophomore Rowlandis Eutsy (Desert Oasis High School) cleared 6-3 in the high jump, while Andrew Stewart (Centennial High) led the future stars in the pole vault. On the girls side, freshman Elizabeth Ramirez (Damonte Ranch High School) topped the pole vault at 11-0.
