Nevada Outdoors: April 13th- April 19th Top Performers and Breakthroughs
Nevada athletes delivered another strong week of outdoor performances from April 13 through April 19, with major performances coming out of the Skyhawk Invitational, Mt. SAC Relays, and the Reno League Meet, along with several impactful weekday competitions across the state.
Sprints & Hurdles
Jayden Patton (Mojave High School) controlled the short sprints at Skyhawk, running 10.53 to win the 100 meters and following it up with a 21.25 victory in the 200 meters. He continues to establish himself among the top emerging sprinters in the state.
Brayden Vierra-Gonzalez (Desert Oasis High School) remained right in the mix, posting 10.57 in the 100 meters and 21.87 in the 200 meters, continuing a consistent stretch across both sprint events.
On the girls side, Alyssa Dixon (Galena High School) once again delivered one of the most complete sprint/jump combinations of the week, winning the 100 meters in 11.67 before also capturing the long jump at 19-0.
Teanna Codd (Centennial High School) and Samiyah Washington (Legacy High School) added strong sprint marks at Mt. SAC Relays, both competing well in deep, high-level fields.
Among notable breakthroughs was TyShaun Chandler (Spring Creek) who made a notable jump in the boys 100 meters, dropping to 11.24 to significantly lower his previous best and move into the state top 65.
In the hurdles, Elijah Sipaila (Galena High School) improved to 15.75 in the 110m hurdles, climbing into the top tier statewide. The time moves him to #12 in Nevada and earned him second place among 15 competitors.
On the girls side, Genesis Roussel (Centennial High School) ran 14.84 in the 100m hurdles at Mt. SAC Relays, while teammate Heaven Deloney (Centennial High School) added a 45.44 in the 300m hurdles, both placing within the top-10 at the highly competitive meet.
Claire Ackerman (Liberty High School) made steady gains across both hurdle and sprint events, lowering her 100m to 13.05 and improving her 100m hurdles to 17.00.
Distance Events
Dannon Martin (Liberty High School) delivered one of the top performances of the week, running 1:52.37 in the 800 meters at Mt. SAC Relays to solidify himself among Nevada's elite.
In the girls 800 meters, Belle Parrel (Centennial High School) won Mt. SAC in 2:13.65, while Brooke-Lynne Miller (Coronado High School) followed closely behind in the rankings with her winning performance at the Skyhawk Invitational in 2:14.79.
At longer distances, Sawyer Hutton (Somerset Academy Sky Pointe) ran 4:13.44 in the 1600 meters, leading a strong Nevada presence in a deep national-caliber race.
On the girls side, Brooke-Lynne Miller (Coronado High School) doubled back from the 800 to win the 1600 in a new PR of 4:56.32. Ryen Hughes (Shadow Ridge High School) ran an impressive 11:13.29 in the 3200 meters at Mt.SAC.
Bryan Aleman (Slam Academy) produced one of the biggest drops of the week, lowering his 800m time from 2:14.36 to 2:06.21 and setting a new school record. Also on the breakthrough side of things; Kinsley Wilcox (Galena High School) continued her steady progression with a 5:40.07 in the 1600, improving from her previous best of 5:54.60.
Jumps & Multi-Events
Luke Juden (Shadow Ridge High School) highlighted the boys pole vault, clearing 15-6 to move to No. 1 in Nevada and set a school record.
Rowlandis Eutsy (Desert Oasis High School) cleared 6-6 in the high jump, while Trevin Young (Shadow Ridge High School) led the long jump at 21-11. In the triple jump, Jayden Crisler (Pahrump Valley) posted 44-6.5 to lead the state.
On the girls side, Aniyah Burress (Legacy High School) delivered a 39-7 triple jump at Mt. SAC Relays, one of the top marks in Nevada this season.
Mackenzie Sellers (Reno High School) showed continues to shine with major improvements in both the long jump (18-1.25) and the pole vault (13-1), establishing herself as a multi-event contributor.
Throws
Kayden Hulet (Debbie Smith) anchored the boys throws with a 55-5.75 shot put and a standout 194-10 discus at the Reno League Meet, producing one of the top marks in Nevada this season.
On the girls side, Nneka Ebonka (Arbor View) led the discus at 118-9, while Samarah Wilkes (Clark High School) topped the shot put at 37-4.
Terrence Thomas (Desert Pines High School) added a strong 137-9 discus performance to round out a deep week in the event group.
Saolotoga Faiivae (Somerset Academy) had one of the biggest overall improvements of the week, jumping to 46-2.5 in the shot put at the Indian Springs Weekday and setting a new school record. He also broke 100 feet in the discus, improving from his previous best of 95-8.
