Centennial's Complete Team Effort Delivers Boys 5A Crown
There was no single athlete responsible for Centennial's boys championship. That was exactly what made the Bulldogs so difficult to beat. Centennial piled up 96 points and secured a comfortable victory over Galena's 73-point runner-up effort by scoring everywhere. Sprint relays, distance relays, hurdles, jumps, throws, and distance races all contributed to the championship total.
The relays proved especially important.
Centennial swept the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x800 titles, establishing itself as the state's most complete relay program. The Bulldogs opened Saturday with victories in the sprint relays and later closed out the distance relay crown with a winning 7:46.72 performance.
The individual points kept coming throughout the day.
Maxwell Miles finished runner-up in the long jump. Deross Fields grabbed silver in the 300 hurdles. Kingston Lueck delivered a state title in the 3200 while adding sixth-place points in the 1600. Calvin Rivera finished third in the 3200 and fourth in the 1600. Dodge Tyra placed second in the pole vault, while Laseth Bryant scored valuable points in the discus.
The championship effort embodied what coaches dream about at the state meet: contributions from every corner of the roster.
Galena's Dynamic Duo
If Centennial won with depth, Galena countered with stars.
The Grizzlies amassed 73 points behind perhaps the strongest collection of distance and middle-distance performances in the state.
David Coisson emerged as one of the meet's biggest winners. The junior captured the 1600 title in a thrilling race decided by just one-tenth of a second, added fifth in the 3200, sixth in the 800, and helped Galena score heavily in the relays.
Hunter Steele was nearly as valuable, placing second in the 400, third in the 1600, and fourth in the 800.
Galena's distance crew seemed to occupy every podium throughout the weekend. Cayden Mosby, Kole Steele, and relay contributors helped turn the distance events into a Grizzlies showcase.
Dannon Martin Produces One Of The Weekend's Best Individual Performances
While Centennial claimed the team title, Dannon Martin may have delivered the most impressive individual performance of the meet.
The Liberty junior swept the 400 and 800 meter titles, running 47.21 and 1:51.61, respectively, while also helping Liberty secure runner-up honors in the 4x400 relay and points in the 4x200.
With another season still ahead of him, he immediately becomes one of Nevada's premier returning stars heading into 2027.
Freshmen Leave Their Mark On The Boys Meet
Nevada's future was on full display.
Brayley Manning of Bishop Gorman finished runner-up in the 100 and fourth in the 200 as just a freshman.
Darius Chapman of Spanish Springs placed second in the 110 hurdles before returning to win the 300 hurdles title.
In the throws, David Ross of Shadow Ridge finished runner-up in the shot put, while Rowlandis Eutsy earned a high jump medal for Desert Oasis.
The underclassmen influence was impossible to ignore and could shape the team race for years to come.
Centennial Girls Run Away With Team Championship
While the boys championship was competitive, the girls race clearly belonged to Centennial.
The Bulldogs piled up 112 points, finishing 30 clear of runner-up Galena and becoming the only team in any division to surpass the century mark.
The relay squad formed the foundation of the championship effort.
Centennial won the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x800 relays while adding a runner-up finish in the 4x400.
The Bulldogs were equally dangerous in the individual events.
Synai Davis claimed the long jump title. Heaven Deloney scored heavily in both hurdle events. Claris Monarrez contributed in the hurdles and pole vault. Teanna Codd placed third in both sprint races. Andraea Mitchell, Gianna Schumann, and Belle Parrel all added major points in the middle-distance events.
Unlike many championship teams that rely on a handful of stars, Centennial simply had too many scorers for the rest of the field to overcome.
Alyssa Dixon And Gioia Coudriet Lead Galena's Runner-Up Charge
Galena may have finished second, but the Grizzlies possessed the meet's two most dominant individual athletes.
Alyssa Dixon assembled a staggering weekend.
Going to the third decimal point, she took second in an impossibly close 100, flipped the script by winning the 200 by .001 seconds, won the 400 by 0.01 seconds, and added third place in the long jump. Every time Dixon stepped onto the track, she found herself in the championship conversation.
Meanwhile, teammate Gioia Coudriet completed one of the rarest accomplishments in Nevada track and field. The sophomore swept the 800, 1600, and 3200 meter titles, establishing herself as the state's premier distance runner.
Combined, Dixon and Coudriet accounted for a massive portion of Galena's 82 points and helped keep the Grizzlies comfortably ahead of the rest of the field.
Coronado's Hurdle Crew Delivers Third-Place Trophy
Coronado quietly pieced together one of the most impressive team performances of the weekend.
The Cougars finished third with 77 points and dominated the hurdles.
Jiselle Dudley captured the 300 hurdle title while also placing fifth in the 200.
Ahtziri Gadzuric finished runner-up in both the 400 and 300 hurdles.
Lola Kelley completed the sweep by taking third in the 300 hurdles.
Coronado also won the 4x400 relay, finished second in the 4x200, and took third in the 4x800, making them a factor in almost every race throughout the meet.
